Thoughts

Your thoughts are what create your reality. The first time I heard that, I didn't quite understand the full meaning of that statement. It isn't anything new, nor is it a secret.

The movie "The Secret" makes it sound so simple - just go think about something and it will appear like magic. The critics of "The Secret" and the law of attraction are pessimistic after hearing something so simple.

The thing is that it isn't so simple. You can think something like "I want to be out of debt" but if you don't stay with the process of uncovering all of the feelings and thoughts that come up with that statement, chances are you will stay in debt. When you are talking about getting out of debt, you are focusing on the debt and not on making money. Just notice what you feel when you say "I want to be out of debt". Doesn't it feel heavy and like a burden? Doesn't it seem overwhelming and impossible?

Most of what we think at any given time is unconscious. At an early age we created a neural network inside our brain and body that let us assimiate data quickly. It is like driving a car - how aware of you of all of the details of driving a car? It is so automatic.

The feelings that go along with the thought are just important if not more than just having the thought.

Since thoughts are so unconscious, the way to connect with what thought you are having is to pay attention to what you are feeling. Your feelings are your internal guidance system. This is a concept I first heard about from Ester and Jerry Hicks who wrote the book "The Law of Atraction". Your feelings will tell you what you are thinking. If you are feeling anything but joy and love you are not thinking a thought that is in tune with your inner being. You are thinking from your ego or smaller self and are getting caught up in fear, competition or lack.

So the process of becoming aware of your thoughts and beliefs is a life long process. It requires your courage to be able to look at the things in your life that you have created and start taking responsiblity for it.
