Ego Psychology
What all of this law of attraction talk comes down to is ego psychology. The ego is the unconscious part of ourselves that keeps us from getting what we want and desire. It starts developing at an early age. When our early childhood caretakers were unable to meet our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual needs we are left to create ego defenses or what some call the false self. The ego defenses keep us safe and from feeling the pain of abandonment, rejection and always thinking that we are not good enough to be loved. When our needs are not met we develop the beliefs that we are not good enough to be cared for so we go out in the world attracting people who continue to prove that to us. It is an unconscious process. The way to get in touch with the unconscious side of ourselves is through getting in touch with our feelings. Most people are even clueless to what they are feeling at any given moment. That is normal. We set our feelings aside because we think they are shameful or that we are monsters if we let others know how we are really feeling. Our feelings are what tell us about the unconscious parts of ourselves. To begin to transcend the ego, it takes a commitment to learning about the ego and how it is developed. It takes a commitment to learning about ourselves and just realizing that it is the ego that is what is holding us back which can help us become more aware very quickly.
