Critics of 'The Secret'
Critics of 'The Secret' and the Law of Attraction are concerned that people who are hearing this information for the first time will take in the wrong way and just start dreaming while sitting on their couch waiting for things to happen. The movie/book 'The Secret' is a very short version of a lifetime of study by the teachers of 'The Secret'. While the 3 steps they talk about - Ask, Believe, Receive - are very simple in theory, they are deeply complex and require becoming more conscious. Consciousness doesn't always come easy. After all, it is unconscious. The process of becoming more aware of yourself and the thoughts you have requires commitment, perseverance, patience and a willingness to look at yourself in a way that you may have never imagined. It can be painful to finally realize that it is you who are the one who is responsible for what happens to you in your life and also humbling. Exploring the underlying beliefs that you have can be a life long process. The beliefs are actually hardwired into our brains in a neural network that needs to be changed which is really not an easy process. Critics of 'The Secret' who are religious also are shocked to hear things that remove their God from the picture. From what I understand religions think that the God is outside of them creating their lives, while 'The Secret' and the Law of Attraction acknowledges the fact that we are all God and God lives within us all. You can follow any religion and still understand the Law of Attraction and most teach it in various ways with different words. The focus seems to be mainly on acquiring material goods and the current teachers of 'The Secret' are showing that it is true by the money they are bringing in just promoting and teaching. There is much more to being wealthy than just money. It also means being happy and full of joy. It is also about how you feel and how fulfilled you are in your life. The simplicity of the law of attraction as described in the movie/book is just that - a simplistic view of centuries of learning and studying of the way we attract things and forgets that we are human and get caught up in our 'stuff'.
