I am not a psychologist, just an avid reader and explorer and writer. I have been a massage therapist since 1987 and there is nothing like working with people that closely to help you learn about yourself and grow. I became a massage therapist after reading a book called "Do what you love and the money will follow" by Marsha Sinetar and began my search for creating the life of my dreams. As a massage therapist, I began to really take a look at how people work and what makes them think or act in various ways. Human behavior and consciousness is always present on the massage table. After 20 years of trying to fix people's pain, I realized that being a massage therapist is really more about feeling my own pain and taking care of my own pain. People's various health conditions that they seek me out for can be helped with massage, there are just too many instances of massage not helping enough - like the person who had headaches for a year and they 'magically' ended when she quit her job. The body and mind are so intricately connected that we will never be able to fix others but we can become more aware of ourselves and be more present to witnessing the healing in others. I started a website back in 1999-www.thebodyworker.com essentially to help rejuvenate my love for massage after realizing I was burned out from giving too much and not setting clear practice boundaries. I just started writing about all of the things I learned in massage school. The website was just a hobby and I started a few more including this one most recently. In about 2001 or so, I found this all in one hosting and business building system called Site Build It! and started learning about creating websites with the goal of actually making money online. In about 2004, after only making a few hundred dollars a month selling an ebook I had written, but having a lot of fun, my hobbies and passion turned into a way to make a considerable amount of money - enough for me to cut back on my massage practice to only working 2 days for the past 2 years or so. I could do that because I started using Google Adsense to monetize my sites. The way these ads work is that Google provides ads that are relevant to my keywords and site concept on each page and when people click on the ads, I get paid. At first I was skeptical because I never click on ads and didn't think anyone else did. I was so wrong! These ads allow me to stay at home and write and do massage a few days a week. The way it works is that you have to create a website around a niche or specific topic and write great content - great in the way that it is good information. The thing is that anyone can do it and Sitebuildit! is all you need. They teach you everything you need to know. Everything from helping you research a site concept that will be profitable, figuring out what to write about and getting your website found. They keep up with the latest traffic building and page creating software. They teach you how to create a website that works. All you have to do is have something that you are passionate about and love talking about and turn it into a way of life. So this is a result of my own work in finding what I love to do and getting clear about what I want to do and who I am.
